I wanted to buy a compact camera that, with a mass and size similar to smartphones, would shoot much better than my Galaxy S7. He, of course, is also good, but the lens is small and in many situations it simply does not have enough aperture. This camera weighs a little more than 200 grams, which is much more than the same Samsung smart, but its dimensions are modest, one might say pocket-sized, and the quality of its photos (about 5500x3600 pixels) is a completely different level. It has a high-quality steel body, a fully retractable lens and convenient touch control from a high-quality three-inch display. By default, it saves frames in JPEGs, but it can also do this in RAW format. Able to shoot bursts of 4 or 8 frames per second. I liked the work of autofocus, including tracking, and the automatic white balance almost always works correctly. The most notable feature of this camera is its Smart Auto mode. Really incredibly cool stuff. For example, she can remember the faces of certain people (well, that is, she must first be trained), and then recognize them and automatically use various features of her work. For example, if I'm photographing my three-year-old son, who is always running around, spinning around and doesn't want to sit still at all, it can include continuous shooting or autofocus wired mode. Incredibly cool! For this, she can even be forgiven for some mistakes, faces, unfortunately, are not always correctly recognized. But the camera can connect to a smartphone "over the air" and can be controlled from a special application, so it has excellent opportunities for advanced selfie shooting. Sometimes Smart Auto does not work quite correctly, but it does not matter, because you can always switch to manual or manual settings on the floor. The battery is not bad, it lasts for about 200-250 shots, but with the advent of autumn it immediately became clear that its capacity is small. |
The second iteration of the youngest of Canon's premium compacts is a cosmetic update to the ancestor of the series, the Canon PowerShot G9 X camera. There are many more things in common with it than dramatic changes.

The DIGIC 7 chip ensures better performance of the camera at high ISOs (you can get a low-noise picture when shooting at ISO values up to 1600-3200 units) and assists in overclocking when photographing in bursts up to 8 fps. Complementing the overall picture is a nimble and tenacious autofocus system that works without misses both in daylight and in low light conditions.
