Price, high torque, light weight.
Tendency to overheat under load.

The Yato company produces a large line of drills and screwdrivers, in which the Yato YT-82800 stands out brighter than others - a tool with high torque (160 Nm). Its body is made of reinforced polyamide, and the gearbox is entirely metal. The chuck can rotate at speeds up to 3000 rpm. The impact frequency is proportional to the speed and reaches 3000 beats/min. The rotation speed and tightening force of the fasteners are adjusted using the start key (the harder it is pressed, the faster the screwdriver turns). Only “long” bits and adapters can be inserted into the chuck (that is, those types of equipment that are at least 50 mm long and equipped with a special “groove” for fixation with a ball). Along the perimeter of the chuck there are three LEDs that provide illumination of the working area during operation, and a metal hook is screwed to the handle, allowing you to hang the tool on a belt when you need to free your hands. The power source is 18-volt Yato batteries. The kit includes one 2 Ah battery and a charger for it.

Screwdrivers with technical characteristics such as the Yato YT-82800 are excellent for working with long carpentry screws. They can be used for the installation of formwork and roofing structures, as well as the installation of clamps and fasteners when stretching cable routes and pipelines. The very compact body allows you to work in hard-to-reach places, and the low weight (1.1 kg) allows you to work above head level without much fatigue. But it should be noted that this screwdriver is, after all, a household-grade power tool (this is understandable even at its low price) and is not particularly suitable for long-term work with a heavy load. For example, we noticed that it is prone to overheating - after 10 - 20 long screws, tightened one after another without pause, the gearbox body heats up to such an extent that it is uncomfortable to touch it with bare hands. Therefore, for professional needs and intensive use, we recommend choosing another option.

Tendency to overheat under load.

Owners of Metabo PowerMaxx SSD 12 impact screwdrivers have 115 Nm of torque at their disposal. Is it a lot or a little? On the one hand, such a moment is not enough to unscrew the wheel bolts. On the other hand, there is too much of it to tighten fasteners smaller than 4x30 mm (a screwdriver often simply tears off the heads of small screws if they are made of not the highest quality metal). Therefore, Metabo PowerMaxx SSD 12 is recommended for use with self-tapping screws up to 8x100 mm in size and metric fasteners with threads up to M12. A tool of this power class is optimally suited for assembly and installation work and the manufacture of structures from wooden boards.

The ergonomics of the screwdriver are made at a high level, traditional for Metabo tools. It is lightweight (only 1.1 kg) and fits comfortably in the hand. The handle and start button are rubberized to prevent your fingers from slipping during operation. The LED located above the battery is quite powerful, illuminates the work area well and shines for another 10 seconds after releasing the button. There is an indicator on the battery itself that allows you to monitor the remaining charge. When equipped with a 2 Ah battery, the battery charge is enough to screw up to 100 screws 45 mm long into a wooden board.

The only complaints that arise are the tool's tendency to overheat (this manifests itself if the screwdriver is pushed too hard when taking on really hard work) and the slight but annoying play of the battery, which dangles slightly in its seat.

This screwdriver falls slightly short of earning the “professional” epithet. But it is quite suitable for a small workshop. As an alternative, you can consider its brushless “brother” Metabo PowerMaxx SSD 12 BL 601115500 Price from 8 153 up to 11 154 ₴, which is a little more powerful, lighter and more compact (but also a little more expensive).

The Bosch GDR 180-LI Professional screwdriver is positioned by the manufacturer as a professional tool designed to perform large volumes of installation or assembly work. Bosch recommends using it for fasteners ranging in size from M6 to M14. The screwdriver chuck rotates at speeds of up to 2800 rpm and makes up to 3600 beats/min. The maximum tightening force reaches a very impressive 160 Nm. It is not possible to preset the rotation speed and torque. These parameters can be controlled exclusively using the start key, dosing the force with which your finger presses the button. When tightening or unscrewing fasteners, the tool itself determines, based on the load on the engine, when to turn on the impact mode. Thanks to its high torque and impact function, this screwdriver copes well even with long self-tapping screws that are used to connect parts of wooden buildings.

The compact dimensions of the screwdriver (153 mm in length and 234 in height) allow you to work in hard-to-reach places where there is no room to turn around with a larger tool. It is equipped with LED backlight for operation in low light conditions. The build quality does not raise the slightest criticism: there is absolutely no play, the bit does not fly out of the chuck even under heavy load, the tool tolerates work well in “hard” mode and, like other “blue” Bosch screwdrivers, is highly reliable. It comes with two batteries (each of them has a capacity of 2 Ah) and a plastic case designed for storing and carrying a screwdriver with a set of batteries, a charger and equipment necessary for the master to work.

Very high torque, brushless motor, electronic motor protection, light weight, case.
There is no charger included.

The torque of the DeWALT DCF840E1T is very high even by the standards of impact screwdrivers - it reaches 192 Nm. Despite such impressive characteristics, working with this tool is convenient and safe, as it is equipped with a tangential impact mechanism. Therefore, the screwdriver does not “twist” the user’s wrists when trying to tighten a large self-tapping screw or unscrew a “stuck” fastener. High tightening force is provided by a powerful brushless motor(according to information from DeWALT, such motors are 20% more powerful than conventional brushed motors and use battery energy 50% more efficiently). In addition to power, this engine is compact and lightweight. Therefore, the screwdriver turned out to be very light (only 0.88 kg without battery), and its body has a short length from the “back of the head” to the chuck. Thus, the DeWALT DCF840E1T is well suited for work in tight spaces or overhead. And comfortable conditions when performing operations in dimly lit places are ensured by the presence of backlighting from three bright and powerful LEDs, which are located around the cartridge.

The tool is equipped with an “intelligent” switch with built-in electronics (which also protects the engine from overloads and protects the battery from too deep discharge). “Intelligent” means that chuck rotation speed (up to 3200 rpm) and tightening force are controlled using the trigger button. Almost all users agree that the start button has excellent sensitivity for working with large screws, but is insufficient for operations with small fasteners (it is difficult to “feel” for the position of the button in which the screwdriver would not tear off the heads of small screws). Therefore, we recommend purchasing the DeWALT DCF840E1T for those tasks where you do not have to work with small fasteners. The optimal areas of application for this screwdriver are work related to the assembly of wooden structures, installation of roofs, installation of brackets for pipelines and other communications, etc.

The tool comes with one 2 Ah battery and a TSTAK case (it can be connected to other DeWALT cases of the same system). But the battery charger is not included in the package; it must be purchased separately.

High torque, brushless motor, electronic motor protection, two batteries, case.
Price.

The Makita DTD153RFE professional screwdriver has a high torque(170 Nm), necessary for working with large bolts and screws. It is designed to perform complex assembly, disassembly and construction work that requires significant effort. Thanks to the high torque and tangential impact mechanism, the tool confidently tightens large bolts and nuts, easily unscrews fasteners that have become stuck due to corrosion, and driving a long self-tapping screw right up to the head into dense wood is a piece of cake for it.

The screwdriver is equipped with a modern brushless motor. That is, it is more reliable and suitable for working outdoors and in dusty rooms than its “colleagues” with conventional brushed motors. In addition, such a motor provides higher energy efficiency (the tool runs longer on a single battery charge) and overload resistance (for which the electronic protection module is responsible). An additional advantage, characteristic of all brushless models of hand-held power tools, is the reduced length (only 126 mm in this case), which allows you to work comfortably in conditions where there is little room for maneuver.

In this configuration, the device is sold with two batteries of increased capacity (3 Ah), but you can also buy larger batteries for it - up to 5 Ah.

The cost of the Makita DTD153RFE is approximately one and a half to two times more than the average good impact screwdriver. This price is quite justified considering its technical characteristics and high reliability. But for a home workshop, the capabilities of this tool are clearly excessive. And if you are not sure that you will use all available Newton meters 100%, then among Makita screwdrivers you can find simpler and cheaper models.
