H.264 video codec

— call panels in which cameras are able to shoot video using the H.264 codec.

Recall that the codec is a compression technology that allows you to reduce the volume of video files (without the use of such technologies, the footage would take up an unreasonably large amount of space). For the whole system to work properly, the intercom (or other “receiving” device) must support the same codec as the calling panel camera. As for this particular codec, it is still very popular in modern video technology — even despite the emergence and spread of more advanced H.265. H.264 support can be especially useful if the call panel is used with relatively old or inexpensive equipment that is not compatible with more modern standards (like the same H.265).

Note that H.264 is not necessarily the only supported codec — in call panels it can be combined with other formats, both newer and obsolete (like H.263)
