Pocket Assistant
The Seagate One Touch SSD is one of the smallest portable SSDs on the market. It is the size of a credit card (1.8") and weighs only 65 grams. The base of the case is made of matte plastic, and a fabric with a tactilely pleasant texture is used as a decorative material. There are several colours to choose from: black, white and various variations on the theme of khaki (Camo Special Edition series).
Stable work
The interface for connecting the Seagate One Touch SSD to a laptop, desktop PC, smart TV or game console is USB Type-A version 3.0. Its bandwidth is more than enough to unlock the speed potential of the drive. Thus, the sequential read speed is approximately 450 MB / s, and it is stable, regardless of the duration of the load. While high-speed USB flash drives often slow down after only five minutes of active work due to overheating.
Universal Soldier
The sequential write speed of the Seagate One Touch SSD is slightly lower — 400 MB / s on small and medium files, and even lower on very large files (a feature of the virtual SLC caching algorithm typical of modern SSDs). By default, the drive is formatted with the exFAT file system. This is the most versatile file system that is recognized by default by Windows, macOS, Linux and Android operating systems. If you plan to use the disk only with Windows, then we recommend reformatting it to NTFS — it is a little faster.
Note to the photographer
You may also need to reformat to use Apple's Time Machine as a storage, the built-in automatic backup feature built right into macOS. The black and white versions of the Seagate One Touch SSD are available in 500 GB and 1 TB, while the colorful Camo Special Edition is available in 1TB only. As a bonus, certificates for subscription to paid applications Adobe Creative Cloud and Mylio Create are given, which will be primarily appreciated by lovers of digital photography.
Everything will connect
You can scold the Seagate One Touch SSD, perhaps, only for the lack of an adapter for a USB Type-C smartphone port in the kit. The younger external SSD Seagate — Expansion does not have it either. But the older Seagate Fast SSD already has a USB Type-C cable. However, any missing adapter can be purchased separately for a penny.
