Patriot Viper Elite II DDR4 is the most affordable series of RAM from the Viper gaming brand of the American company Patriot Memory. It is presented as single modules with a volume of 4 gigabytes or more, and paired sets with a total volume of up to 64 gigabytes. The frequency varies from 2666 to 4000 MHz. There is only one colour option — red-black, without illumination.

It is dressed in metal radiators, and this is not a thin foil, like the low-cost models of other brands, but thick-walled aluminium plates. In height, the radiators protrude only 5 millimetres above the memory module, making them compatible with large CPU coolers and thin computer cases.

Frequency Boost

The base model with a frequency of 2666 MHz is deprived of the XMP auto-overclocking profile (it usually starts at 3200 MHz now) and works on standard JEDEC timings CL19-19-19-43 at a supply voltage of 1.2 volts. If desired, by manually overclocking the memory frequency, with a high probability, it will be possible to raise it to 2933 – 3000 MHz. Parallel voltage growth up to 1.35 V for metal radiators will not be a problem.

Timing compression

Of course, manually overclocking the Patriot Viper Elite II DDR4 is only possible on motherboards that support RAM overclocking. These are Intel B560, B660, Z590 and Z690 chipsets, as well as AMD B450, B550, X570 and X570S. On low-cost motherboards, you can also increase memory performance — an alternative method of manually reducing timings and sub-timings, at a constant frequency.
