This camera, released in 2015, is an improved and improved version of the successful D7100 model. It carries the same 24-megapixel APS-C sensor on board, devoid of an anti-moire filter, but Expeed 4 has already been used as a processor, which made it possible to achieve more solid capabilities — in particular, the number of frames in a series has increased to 100 for JPEG and 27 for RAW. Another notable update to the Nikon D7200 camera is Wi-Fi + NFC wireless interfaces, the capabilities of which include remote control. Shooting modes include Timelapse. Recording is carried out on SD cards, which can be installed at once two. Lens sold separately.

A second simpler SLR was needed in addition to the excellent full-frame Nikon D810. Considering the budget constraints, the desired optical compatibility with the 810 and personal preferences, the choice was made on the Nikon D7200. 24.2 megapixel APS-C sensor without anti-aliasing filter. Due to the absence of a filter, excellent sharpness and clarity of the smallest details are obtained. Another serious plus of this matrix is its low noise at high ISO. Separately, I note a good dynamic range.
I worked with a zoom of 18-105, I was pleased with the fast autofocus, really fast. A fairly large built-in buffer, which allows you to make long series: 8-9 seconds for jpeg, 4-5 seconds for 12-bit RAW, and up to 3 seconds for full-fledged 14-bit RAW files. Metal light-alloy case with protection against water and dust. Classic Nikon control and menu. I'm used to it and I like it. A capacious battery lasts for approximately 800-900 shots (without flash), it takes about 3 hours to charge. Very high quality 3.2 inch display with excellent viewing angles. Shoots good 1080p video and even at 60 fps. There are potentially useful Wi-Fi and NFC, but I did not have to use them. By default, when shooting in jpeg, the camera uses rather aggressive noise reduction algorithms and fine details and light textures are "blurred" along with the noise. Don't forget about it, shoot in RAW and everything will be OK.
Autofocus is slow in LiveView. It seems that the processor in the camera is new, faster, but delays of up to half a second still occur. |
Nikon's seven thousandth series of DSLRs takes pride of place at the top of the hierarchy of the amateur segment. The brightest representative of the line with the D7200 index is included in the 2015 model range and outwardly practically does not differ from its predecessor, the Nikon D7100.
Two screens
The body of the camera is cast from a magnesium alloy, on which the main controls are conveniently located, as well as two screens: the main one with a diagonal of 3.2 "and an additional monochrome one on the upper end, designed to duplicate shooting parameters. Unfortunately, the main display is fixed and non-touch, so you need to set the settings will have to use the analogue control keys.
Without AA filter
The camera was affected by the latest fashion trends and it lost its anti-alias filter in its design, which artificially reduces the detail of the frame. Despite its absence, moire on surfaces with a fine structure practically does not make itself felt.
Fast autofocus
The model received a smart and tenacious autofocus system, consisting of 51 focus points, including 15 cross type. Autofocus sensitivity has been increased from -2EV to -3EV, resulting in faster and more accurate focus. Good image quality is guaranteed at ISO values up to 12800. And the extended range allows you to shoot with ISO 102400, but in black and white.
Video recording
The amateur class of Nikon DSLRs has one childhood sore, which they could not get rid of in this model either. Its meaning lies in the impossibility of changing the aperture in LiveView mode, i.e. when looking at the screen. It is especially annoying that the aperture cannot be quickly changed when shooting video, because the Japanese company did not stint and endowed its offspring with the ability to record videos in FullHD format at a frequency of up to 60 fps. Video footage can be transferred directly to an external recorder via an HDMI cable.
battery life
The camera is capable of shooting more than a thousand shots on a single battery charge. Actually, it is for the long battery life and one of the best in its class autofocus system that the SLR is loved the most.
Reference. Visually, the moiré effect is a wave-like pattern, which is not really there. It can appear on objects with a fine structure (a brick wall taken from afar, clothes in a small cell, etc.).
- Support for "WU-1a" module
- The presence of the shooting mode "TimeLaps"
- Shutter life approx. 150,000 cycles
