Considering the price, it was interesting to start with NV1's innards. So, four 64-bit 3D QLC flash memory modules manufactured by Kingston itself are installed here, and the popular Phison PS5013-E13-3 controller controls this stuff. The controller is low-cost and does not support the operation of the DRAM buffer. In general, everything is expected prstenko, which is confirmed in the tests. In linear reading tests, everything went smoothly, and in some places the speedometer even exceeded the claimed 2100 MB / s, reaching 2400 MB / s. The true class of NV1 shows up in the line and random write tests. In the beginning, everything goes smoothly, and the speed is kept at the level of the passport 1700 MB / s, but very soon the lack of a full-fledged buffer begins to affect, and the speed drops to 150 – 200 MB / s. It turns out a total gap in read and write speed, due to which this SSD is not suitable for conditional photo and video processing, in which you need to quickly work simultaneously in both directions.
Not without flaws
Finally, it is important to reiterate. This is one of the cheapest SSDs on the market. At least if we talk about the volume of 500 GB. And all these shortcomings mentioned above are more relevant for mid-range models. For low-cost SSDs, the indicators are at the level, if you want to save money, then take it without hesitation. By the way, this will be a particularly good option for upgrading a laptop, since the memory module itself turned out to be quite thin and low, which makes it easy to install. And for a low-cost gaming PC, this is quite a good option, because the main operations during the game are just reading, not writing.
