A decent drill with a Soviet pedigree

In appearance and characteristics, the Interskol D-16/1050R2 most of all resembles classic Soviet drills: bulky, powerful and low-speed. The design of the tool is determined by its purpose, which consists in drilling large diameter holes and mixing building mixtures. The characteristics of the engine (1050 W) and the operating speed range (up to 550 rpm) make it possible to use the drill as a heavy-duty screwdriver. It easily, without a drop in speed, withstands heavy loads and easily interferes with up to 50 liters of rotband or glue. During operation, the tool does not overheat, so you can drill deep holes in viscous wood or knead building mixtures almost non-stop.

The drill is completed with two additional handles: D-shaped back and usual lateral. The thread on the case allows you to install the side handle in three different positions: under the right hand, under the left and from above. But users complain that the additional handle is quite flimsy and requires “finishing” after purchasing the tool.

The device is highly reliable and durable. But there are also minor flaws that the manufacturer is in no hurry to eliminate, although the drill has been on sale for many years. For example, brushes wear out very quickly. Fortunately, they are cheap (within $1 – $2, less) and are easy to change. The trigger lock does not work well, it is difficult to turn it on with work gloves. Reverse is also unsuccessfully implemented (forward and reverse rotation are switched by different positions of the start button), and sometimes it turns on completely by accident.

A tool for connoisseurs of brute force

Drill mixer Interskol D-16/1050R2 is suitable for those who need a tool for mixing large volumes of dense building and finishing mixtures. With its help, you can also drill holes for dowels during the assembly of a log house or a wooden bath.

Some use this drill as an inexpensive drilling machine. But it is worth considering that the standard racks have a too small diameter of the clamping neck for this tool, therefore, in order to fix the drill in a vertical position, you will need to “collective farm” something.
