Looking at the price, it's a good purchase. I decided to upgrade my three-year-old laptop because... Windows 10 on my hardware did not work very quickly. And all because the HDD is slow. With this disk, the system began to boot on the laptop much faster, and the machine began to work more quickly. It took about 10 minutes for the drive to get into place. The main advantage of the drive is the speed of data processing. Information is copied and read very quickly. Thanks to this, the system boots and shuts down much faster. I timed the launch time and it came out to 17-18 seconds, which is very good. Programs also work faster, especially if you run several heavy ones at once. I was also pleased with the price of $50, which is not bad for 120 GB. I have enough memory, because... I use my laptop for work, not to store a bunch of movies. There is nothing to break in the disc, which has a positive effect on durability. The drive is quiet. I was disappointed that the equipment was very sparse. You need to look somewhere for the screws for fastening, as well as the connection wire. The adapter is used from 2.5 to 3.5 mm. It’s good that they at least put a frame, otherwise it would have been problematic to install. use HyperX SHFS37A/120G week |
The disc lived up to expectations. I took it under the system in the laptop, plus installed programs. I left the media files on the HDD, because the speed of their launch is not so important and critical. But loading operating systems and programs has become much faster, which saves time and nerves. All installed software functions much faster, it’s as if the computer has found a second life. I like to play modern racing games, but the computer’s performance is always enough. It seems that the processor and core perform well at high settings, but the speed of reading information is not enough. This is especially noticeable if you run long tracks, for example Sarthe or Nordschleife, and about four dozen cars. Textures load with a delay, sometimes even a hint of a slideshow appears. After installing the game on the SSD, the brakes disappeared, as if I was sitting on a different laptop. I'm pleased with the result. The system also starts quickly, in 10 seconds, while before it was half a minute. I don’t think it’s worth describing the programs; I’ll note that they fly, but before they just worked. I also liked the declared resource. The company claimed that it is one of the best for disks of this size. no |
Honorary Veteran
The HyperX Fury SSD from Kingston Technology is a true veteran of the solid state drive industry that continues to hold its own even after almost three years of being on the market. Unlike most modern low-cost SSDs, it is built not on cheap TLC, but on wear-resistant MLC memory (1K versus 3K cell rewrite cycles). Of course, there is even more durable SLC memory (10k cycles), but it is used only as a cache for SSHD hybrid drives.
Compress the incompressible
The HyperX Fury SSD is built on the tandem of the LSI SandForce SF-2281 controller and Kingston's own flash memory (this is the first and, unfortunately, the last "home" product of the company). The read and write speed is different for compressible and incompressible data (a feature of the SF-2281, not found in modern controllers). Compressible data includes, for example, files of the operating system, applications and games, while incompressible (already compressed in advance) includes photos, music and videos.
The quieter you go, the further you'll get
The read and write speed for compressible files is the same for HyperX Fury SSD — 500 MB / s. Speeds for incompressible data differ depending on the volume of the disk. So, in the 120-gigabyte version, data is read at 420 MB / s, and written at 120 MB / s. The 240 gig has 470 and 240 MB / s, and the 480 gig has 450 and 208 MB / s (that is, the fastest version is the medium volume). But there are no write speed drops on large files (up to 60 – 70 MB / s), like with TLC disks. In summary, the HyperX Fury SSD is a medium-speed, durable, and relatively inexpensive solid state drive. Also on the market you can find a Laptop Kit with a USB hard drive pocket, which will become unnecessary after installing an SSD in a laptop.
