A jug with a built-in filter for water purification from the famous German company Brita. Refers to high-capacity models, intended for domestic use. Can be applied from home or away/field conditions. The total volume of the jug is 3.5 liters, of which 2 liters are reserved for filtered water. Brita Maxtra cartridges are used as a filter element. They provide 4-step cleaning. In the first stage, the water passes through a simple mechanical strainer to remove suspended particles.
The second stage is performed using active cation exchange resins, which purify water from heavy metals dissolved in it, as well as aluminium, iron, calcium and magnesium cations. Thus, the cationic composition of water is significantly corrected and its carbonate and non-carbonate hardness is reduced. At the third stage of filtration, water is passed through a layer of activated carbon, which absorbs the available dissolved organic impurities and toxic organic chlorine compounds formed during water chlorination.
At the fourth and final stage, the water passes through another fine mesh mechanical filter. Filtered water has minimal hardness and does not scale in teapots and other kitchen utensils, provides an excellent taste of dishes cooked on it, and can be safely used for filling irons and humidifiers. The jug is made of food-grade plastic, has an ergonomic design and a special mechanical indicator that reminds you of the need to replace the cartridge.

The advantageous difference between the pitcher of the German “breed” BRITA Aluna XL and its relatives is a four-stage water purification system. This is exactly four times more than usual.
Under cover
The body of the model is made of safe food-grade plastic and can be washed in a dishwasher. The contents inside the jar are "covered" by a lid with a cartridge replacement calendar indicator. It is put on guard for monitoring the timely replacement of the filter element, the resource of which is designed for approximately 250 liters of water.
Four stages of filtration
BRITA Aluna XL uses Maxtra series replaceable cartridges with a four-stage filtration system. At the first stage, water is passed through a mechanical mesh filter in order to remove coarse particles. The second step is the dissolution of heavy metals, aluminium, iron, calcium and magnesium cations with the participation of cation exchange resins. Then a layer of activated carbon is included in the work, absorbing dissolved organic impurities and toxic chlorine compounds. Finally, at the end, the water is passed through a fine mesh mechanical filter.
Optimal capacity
The total capacity of the jug is 3.5 liters. Of these, filtered water accounts for 2 liters. This is quite enough to fill the average kettle and, in addition, fill the iron for ironing things. The model's flaws include the high cost of replaceable filter elements, which are sold almost at the cost of a new jug with a complete cartridge. Suitable Maxfor filters from Aquaphor can serve as an alternative to the "native" cassette. But their resource is about a third less.
