the “reader” from the popular Paperwhite line of the 2015 model range has not changed much in appearance (compared to previous generations), but it has been significantly “pumped” in terms of display resolution — it has risen to 300dpi, which makes small fonts more expressive. The screen still uses electronic ink technology and has a backlight in its equipment, so you can read books in any quality of lighting.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2015 is not as omnivorous to a variety of file formats as most other players on the market — it is given extensions 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, MOBI, PRC, and after conversion by a regular utility, also HTML, DOC .docx. To store the library in the storage on board the reader, about 3 GB of free space is allocated (out of 4 GB of the total storage capacity). The book can last up to 6 weeks without being plugged into an outlet, but it should be understood that the specific battery life depends on the intensity of the backlight use.

good model, I liked it

I read willingly and a lot, this is facilitated by long trips to the subway (2x30 min 5 times a week). I got my first e-book reader a long time ago, but over time it ceased to suit me - low resolution, slow screen change and lack of backlight in some situations annoyed me. The backlight was especially lacking, because without it it is almost impossible to read in bed before going to bed. In this book reader, all the above problems are absent, it is good in all respects.
A small and not thick body (17x12x9.1 cm), most of which is occupied by a high-quality e-Ink touch screen with a six-inch diagonal. Compared to the old book reader, it has much better contrast and a fundamentally higher resolution. 1448 by 1072 pixels with such a diagonal provide 120 pixels per centimeter, that is, the dot size is only 0.084 mm! Not all top smartphones can boast such a high resolution, even small fonts look clear and convincing. The backlight is even, and the brightness is adjustable over a wide range of values. You can comfortably read even in complete darkness. The screen cover is matte, I would even say rough, it does not collect fingerprints. The book reader is equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi adapter and even has a built-in browser. There is official support for the Russian language, Kindles did not have it before this model. There is a pre-installed English-Russian and Russian-English dictionary, and it is deeply integrated and called by holding your finger on the desired word. I also praise a very capacious battery.
Text settings are not enough, only 6 fonts, three options for line spacing and eight letter sizes. The case is made of matte plastic with a soft-touch coating, which is pleasant to the touch, but collects all possible dust. Wipe - do not wipe, just take it in your hands and goodbye cleanliness ((

Good to know:

Features of "Paperwhite Built-in light" screen:
This e-book model uses a special screen manufacturing technology. The idea is to combine a paper-like eINK screen with a capacitive touchscreen and backlight into one display. In this case, there are three layers: the eINK screen itself is in the bottom layer, the capacitive touchscreen is located above, and above it is a special backlit film. This minimizes loss of contrast, removes the physical control buttons, and provides bright backlighting for reading in dimly lit areas.
