Sequential read speed 3500 Mbps
A powerful controller and fast RAM cache have a positive effect on IOPS, that is, the number of read and write operations per second — 290 and 220K, respectively. The XPG SX8200 Pro uses 3D TLC NAND flash memory, which shows a speed of 3500 MB / s in Crystal Disk Mark sequential read tests. This is a serious indicator, which actually does not differ from the claimed passport data and actually rests on the bandwidth of the PCI-E 3.0 4x bus. For comparison, the reference Samsung Evo 970 has the same 3500 Mbps.
Limitations of an SLC array
But the write speed here is much lower and is 1200 MB / s. This is 2 times lower than that of Samsung and approximately the same level as other drives operating on the PCI-E 3.0 bus. In addition, due to the use of TLC memory, a high write speed is maintained only until the volume of the virtual SLC array is exceeded, which is 15 percent of the storage capacity. After the array overflows, the speed decreases by about a quarter and the disk needs time to recover. However, this is a problem with most relatively inexpensive SSDs.
