Excellent colour coverage, small input lag, 4.2 audio format, slim form factor, One Connect remote unit.

Small viewing angles, possible loss of Wi-Fi signal.

The 55-inch diagonal TV represents the Q line of the Korean manufacturer. Externally, it looks impressive, even against the background of the best models of 2016, for example, Samsung UE-55KS8000.

The front of the screen is framed by a thin frame (width 0.8 cm). The back part has a smooth texture and is devoid of interface openings, which are placed in One Connect Box. Two cables (network and leading to the remote unit) can be hidden in the stand, which in turn ensures reliable fixation of the panel on horizontal surfaces.

In addition, the TV is as thin as possible, it looks neat and compact from the side, and when fixed with a VESA mount, it practically merges with the wall.

The Samsung QE-55Q7FAMU 10-bit Ultra HD 4K matrix has a high contrast ratio and good black uniformity, which makes it the optimal choice for watching movies in a dark room. QLED illumination forms a rich, bright image with the widest colour gamut. And the HDR support makes the playback of the relevant content as realistic and exciting as possible.

A smooth video sequence is provided by the frame rate of the matrix at 120 Hz, and the proprietary Picture Quality Index technology raises it to the level of 3100 frames/sec in dynamic scenes, preventing blurring and image jerks. In addition, the model has a low output delay (input lag at 24 ms), which ensures a comfortable gameplay.

The TV handles well with both 4K video and relatively low-quality image display, up to the SD format (thanks to upscaling). The only drawback of the panel is related to the distortion of colour rendering when viewing angles change. So, for example, for a large company that is going to watch football, Samsung QE-55Q7FAMU will not be the best choice.

The TV received 4 built-in speakers with a subwoofer with a total power of 40 watts. The audio system forms a voluminous sound with good low frequencies. There are 3 digital TV tuners for playback of terrestrial, cable and satellite channels, and an updated "smart" Tizen platform with a simple interface and support for voice control is provided for multimedia entertainment.

You can connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi, but, as some owners note, the TV may lose its wireless connection, after which you need to reconnect to the network and specify a password.

In general, Samsung QE-55Q7FAMU is a stylish and practical TV with high—quality picture and sound, especially if you appreciate juicy, rich colours and smooth reproduction of dynamic scenes.

Useful tips. When choosing a TV, do not confuse the output delay and the matrix response rate. They are both measured in milliseconds, but the output delay or input lag is the time that the TV electronics need to process the incoming video signal and output it to the display. This indicator is important for those who plan to use the TV for games: the lower the input lag, the faster the electronics will react to the player's actions. Response time is a characteristic of the screen matrix. The indicator reflects the minimum time for which a pixel can change brightness (actually move to a new image). The lower this indicator, the better the matrix handles with displaying dynamic scenes and the lower the risk of image distortion. Response time is determined by the frame rate of the matrix and the acceleration technologies used.

Infinite contrast, high-quality images at all viewing angles, small input lag, thin form factor.

Weak colour saturation at high brightness.

The 55-inch panel is equipped with an OLED matrix and is a logical development of the B6 series (for example, the LG OLED55B6V TV, representing the 2016 model range).

LG OLED55B7V looks stylish and elegant in any room. A thin silver metal frame frames the display, visually expanding its boundaries. The back part is made in white: at the top it is just the panel itself with a backing, and at the bottom an extension with the main components and interface ports. The total thickness excluding the stand is less than 5 cm.

For wall mounting, a 200x300 mm VESA mount is used. For additional convenience, two USB and HDMI ports "look" sideways.

The LG OLED55B7V OLED matrix guarantees infinite contrast and maximum uniformity of colours (especially black and grey) both in a dark and light room. The model can be placed in a large living room, as it has wide viewing angles, and the image quality remains good regardless of where the viewer is.

The TV scales low-quality video and allows you to experience all the benefits of 4K content with an expanded HDR colour gamut. The panel is also suitable for games, since the image output delay is only 21 ms. Smaller values are only needed by professional gamers.

The disadvantage is the weak saturation of the image in bright scenes. The loss is noticeable against the background of QLED models or, say, Sony KD-55XE9305.

The TV uses the webOS platform, which is characterized by high performance and an abundance of applications. It is complemented by the proprietary Magic Remote, which simplifies management and configuration. There is also a relatively good audio system with a pair of high-frequency speakers and two subwoofers. The total sound power is 40 watts.

LG OLED55B7V is a TV with the best image quality in its price category. More impressive parameters are offered only by flagship OLED TVs, which cost at least 2 times more expensive, like, for example, LG OLED65G7V.

Large screen, wide viewing angles, minimal input lag.

Weak contrast and uniformity of black colour.

The model represents LG's SUPER 4K ULTRA HD line. It is made in a nice design with a neat black frame around the glossy screen. A curved metal stand acts as a support for the TV. On the back matte surface there are holes for wall fixing of the panel using a VESA 300x200 mm mount.

LG 65SJ950V received a 65-inch display with IPS matrix and classic LED backlight. The panel is characterized by wide viewing angles without distortion, which makes it an excellent solution for collective viewing. The contrast level and colour uniformity of the model is inferior to the capabilities of OLED TVs, which is clearly manifested in dark scenes, where black is more like grey.

A 10-bit matrix with a wide colour gamut forms a rich picture when playing HDR content. But limited contrast will still not give maximum advantages in comparison with conventional video.

Due to the high frame rate of 120 Hz and PMI technology, the model handles well with the reproduction of dynamic scenes (the corresponding index is up to 3400 fps), providing a smooth video sequence without blurring and jitter.

The TV is characterized by a small delay in the output of the image in the "Game" and "PC" mode (up to 17 ms), which makes the model the optimal choice for fans of games. According to the input lag indicator, the LG 65SJ950V is one of the best models of 2017, surpassing the main OLED counterparts and most Sony and Samsung TVs.

The TV also received a 40-watt audio system with a subwoofer, all the popular digital tuners and Smart TV functionality. Multimedia capabilities of the proprietary webOS shell can be expanded by installing various applications and services, connecting external devices to the TV via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or via wired interfaces.

LG 65SJ950V, in addition to its gaming orientation, attracts a large screen size (65 versus 55" for OLED counterparts with a similar price tag). If it is the size of the panel that is in priority, then it is worth taking a closer look at this model. But if you want a higher image quality, then LG OLED55B7V is the preferred solution.

Large screen, deep black colour, high brightness level, small input lag.

Small viewing angles, audio system without a subwoofer.

Released in 2017 by Sony, the TV is now considered one of the best models in terms of image quality among LED-backlit solutions.

Sony KD-65XE9005 is made in a minimalistic design. The model received a small stand, in both racks of which you can hide the wires. The black frame around the screen, as well as the TV body itself, differs in a small thickness. Most of the ports have a lateral arrangement, which provides convenient access to them during wall mounting (VESA 300x300 mm is used).

Sony KD-65XE9005 TV has high-quality LED backlight and high peak brightness (up to 900 cd/m2). Thanks to this, the 65-inch panel shows good contrast and uniform colours in rooms with any level of illumination.

The saturation of the image is especially good when playing HDR content. High brightness values do not make the image unnatural, since the colour accuracy is even without additional calibration at height. But the viewing angles of the Sony KD-65XE9005 leave much to be desired, which is explained by the VA-matrix of the model. If the viewer is on the side of the display, the colours will look a little blurry and distorted (grey instead of black).

The panel does a good job of reproducing dynamic scenes in movies. Like its main competitors, it provides a smooth video sequence without distortion and artifacts. And Motionflow technology reduces the flickering effect of the backlight and makes the picture even smoother and more pleasant to perceive.

The output delay level is low (34 ms), which allows you to use the Sony KD-65XE9005 as a monitor. Nevertheless, it is still lower for the main competitors (for example, Samsung QE-55Q7FAMU has it equal to 24 ms).

The TV uses Android TV as a "smart" platform. The shell is actively developing, while inferior in performance to LG webOS. But its strengths include the Google Play store, which contains many applications that can expand the multimedia functionality of the model.

The disadvantages of TV include poor sound quality "out of the box". The audio system is represented only by a pair of 20W speakers without a subwoofer. To solve the problem, you should think about purchasing a soundbar. Otherwise, the large display and excellent image parameters make the Sony KD-65XE9005 one of the most interesting options in its price segment.

A large curved screen, a great picture in bright light, a small input lag, a One Connect remote unit.

Small viewing angles, poor local dimming.

The curved TV, which debuted on the market in 2017, currently represents the latest ninth series of the Korean company Samsung. The model received a conventional LED backlight, so a panel with a diagonal of 65" is comparable to a 55-inch representative of the Q line using QLED "quantum dots" technology.

Samsung UE-65MU9000 received a thin frame around the screen, a neat stand and a smooth back surface. All interface connectors are placed in a separate One Connect unit, which allows you to hide the wires and connect any devices without problems, even when the TV is mounted on the wall.

The TV has a high contrast ratio, which helps to get a uniform black colour in low light conditions. In this aspect, Samsung UE-65MU9000 is second only to its QLED counterparts and top Sony models, for example, KD-65XE9005. Even better, the 65-inch panel manifests itself in bright rooms. So, thanks to the high peak brightness (up to 600 cd/m2) and the matte coating of the screen, the model effectively resists glare from the sun and suppresses reflections from lighting fixtures.

The disadvantages of the image on the Samsung UE-65MU9000 include small viewing angles, which is due to both the curved screen and the type of matrix (VA). If the viewer is not located in the centre, then a loss in the quality of colour rendering and the image as a whole becomes noticeable. The second disadvantage is the unsuccessful implementation of local dimming, due to which the brightness is often distorted (the problem is solved by setting the minimum value for Local Dimming in the settings).

Motion Rate technology provides a smooth frame change when playing dynamic scenes (up to 200 Hz). A small signal output delay (up to 24 ms) allows you to use a large TV for games, including those with HDR support.

The built-in 40-watt audio system with a subwoofer is responsible for acceptable sound quality in various use scenarios.

Smart TV functionality is revealed by the Tizen 2017 platform with a convenient Smart Hub interface. The remote control has a microphone for voice control. The "picture in picture" functionality is also provided.

If you are interested in a curved TV with excellent image quality, then Samsung UE-65MU9000 should become your favorite in this price segment.
