Under the Pantech brand, the South Korean company Pantech Curitel manufactures mobile phones, smartphones running the Android operating system, and wireless modems. Its history began in 1991, when mobile phones were just beginning their victorious march around the world. For a long time it was the third largest manufacturer of this equipment in South Korea, after Samsung and LG Electronics.
However, although Pantech phones were quite popular in their homeland, they were much less known abroad. These devices were sold in Japan, the USA and China, mainly in packages of cellular operators. A not particularly successful attempt was made to enter the Ukrainian market.
Pantech Curitel filed for bankruptcy in 2014. However, the history of the brand did not end there. In 2015, the company's assets were acquired by other manufacturers, whose efforts are planned to breathe new life into Pantech, expanding the range of products and offering consumers new solutions.
